History

TP human capital sponsored 2 corporate triathlons in 2002.  The events were used as a trial, gauging interest from the corporate community in supporting such an event.  With limited marketing and promotion, the event drew around 100 competitors (20 corporate teams). As the years have gone on however, there has been a great increase in participants. Due to this increase the event outgrew two previous locations (first Riverside and then Riverway) to move to the iconic tropical beach front – Strand Park, The Strand.  In 2009 the festival was incorporated and introduced additional events to become a weekend long festival!

As shown, the festival has continued to grow and has become a much-anticipated event on annual sporting and corporate calendars throughout the Townsville region. All levels of fitness and fun have been represented.
